Baluchistan the most richest energy province of pakistan is undoubtely the poorest. In fact their own people were even denied gas supplies ! Tribal leader Akbar bugti , popularly know as "Tiger of Baluchistan" has long been saviour of the region. Was the governer and CM of the province in the 1970's. Early this year as he was the prime target of elimination, he fled dera bugti into the mountains. He well had more than 250,000 militia under his belt. His death now gives birth to galavising of resistant forces against musharaf.
Analysts feel the general could have sought political means to solve the crisis. The idea would be to resolve the sufferings of the balochs rather than suppressing them. Wierd he had to resort to military action against their own countrymen ! Clear indication of his general status overcoming the presidetial powers. If he is to continue sceptre, then president should try resolving issues through political equations. Otherwise baloch might become another bangladesh as one of the military analyst points out in his recent article.
General has the history of handling pressure cooker situation with ease. But this has thrust too much weight on him. If the situation is under control then it would be a dangerous predence for worst to follow. Lets earnestly hope our neighbour gets her "house in order" too.

Pluto goes underworld !
Pluto , named after the greek god of underworld was proudly with the solar family for 3/4 th of a century. And it still remains one body of the solar system which was never visited by a man made satellite. New horizon on its way to accomplish it, but by 2015 !
Pluto has long been under controversy for being named a planet. Especially when similar objects like pluto were found in kuiper belt. Internation Astonomical Union (IAU) wasted no time in polling out pluto off the planet system making it only 8. This definitely comes as a surprise to many as there were proposals to add charon(pluto biggest known moon), Xena also into the planetry union. Pluto's orbit being slightly above other contemprories.

The End of a Raaga !
The Ganges would flow silently as it wud fail to hear the music that reverberated for more than half a century. Ustad Bismillah khan was enthralling varanasi for decades through his identity "Shennai" . Known for his humility , he did his shennai speak everything else.
As a disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan, this octogenarian did his master and nation proud.
Not an exaggeration to say shennai got a re-birth under his reign. Throughout his life as master shennai player money was not even the least priority. Simplicity as a way of life he was a staunch supporter of pluralism. His striking words "Heavens weep today to see the drastic event . Miscreants would be defeated as their design was !"(On varanasi blast)
Nation awarded highest civilian to Ustad bismillah Khan. He might not have a musical blood line legacy to continue but his hindustani notes would be travelling through ages !

Well Mr.Narayan Murthy let his deed speak the answer :-) ! No prize for guessing !
Infy his child has grown into an emperor ruling the IT world.
As he turns 60, the high profile chairman renounced his chair on sunday Aug 20,2006. By conventional wisdom he his retired from day to day operation as exectuive though he will continue to mentor it to even greater heights. His kin not succeeding is something unique to him and industry ofcourse ! Instead he left hi own child to be nurtued !
Infosy'ians are going to miss him ! So will the corporate world !
As a professional of this genaration we owe a lot to him who has radically changed all our life styles indirectly. Infosys set precedence by listing on NASDAQ. Until then world only knew us a land of snake charmers and advocates of eternal conservationalism. What followed is history.
Murthy's "Why not? " unconventional approach has always awestruck me. As this business giant retires I stand to salute his greatness & empathy for society !

Sleeping Beauty !
State of being where there is feeling of stillness yet chaos in unknown territories is the beauty of sleeping ! Oops sorry if the topic was misleading ! I am tempted to pen this out during my siesta. So if you feeel some disorientation or cranky route through this post you are njoying its brighter side !
Always wondered abt this compelling nature of all living beings. Experiences all form of feelings can be met while still asleep ! From pretty to pain, sadness to madness, love to lonliness ! Not exactly in any form or sequence. Well otherwise it would be reality :) !!
I was always under misconception that sleeping beauty was a hot cutie, until I really started sleeping my heart off ! Anytime, anywhere ! I term this "instant karma" ! Manifestation takes place on spot once you roar(even silently is fine - but must roar - or well, snore!)
Sleep seeks u realise the sound of silence, creativity of emptiness, heaven in the hell. Even after painting the beauty of sleep, empty canvas still stares at me. But it is an ever relinquishing preview - picturesque and least expected.
Beauty of sleep might disturb you , but realisation alone is the key to its vastness !!! Concept of time fails as it cease to exist :-) !!

Shane Warne these days is netting hard to avoid murali surpassing him - The only other man to trying to bowl this bowler !
As years spinned, this cricketing genius has proven himself to be one of the best bowlers cricket has ever known. Right from his debut in 1992 there was no looking back for muralitharan ! Armed with his ever smiling attitude he has made the batsmen cry for their mistakes.
Muthiah muralitharan, the highest wicket taker [ test+ODI], keeps all who are watching spellbound by his sleight of hand. Real doosra thrown to the other legends is the complexity of action which he performs with ease. Murali has created a new art of spinning ! Anyone from prasanna to bishan singh bedi would agree. As India celebrates her 59th independence day the optimistic tides are splashing all around. Exceptions are part of any system so let’s discard any non-optimistic comments. Growth is the buzz word ringing. Second fastest rowing economy in the world next only to China! Export numbers growing, average life expectancy going up, access to information technology increasing users and their reach far plus wide.
Indian business tycoons from Lakshmi mittal to Vijay mallya have officially stamped their presence through global acquisitions. 8’o Clock coffee is to have Indian aroma all 24 hrs after Tata Coffee buying it out ! Recent IATA conference invited Indian civil aviation minister and IA chief for the first time in years stressing the importance of our aviation sector flying globally ! Cancer drugs expected by biocon in a few years and AIDS trial have already kicked off .
According to World Bank social indicator, India has reduced her poverty to 25% from 50% in 1950’s, life expectancy going up to 63 from 49. Though WB warns of hurdles ahead. Factors like oil prices, monsoon, poverty , rural development are to be looked after. India is in the way of the “Millennium development Goal” commitment to reduce poverty by 2015 !
Scientific progress too has been on success strides. Defense, space and nuclear technologies have been on growth lane. Indirectly a lot of spin-off’s are benefiting the masses in providing energy and security. IT is our core competence! Telecommunication has been the backbone of connectivity shrinking our space and time!
Few years back I heard an international business man comment “IT – India & china” . Almost anonymous view that Tiger and Dragon are to rule the century through their economic supremacy! As world enters new international dimension in relationships we should be malleable responsible state in world affairs!
As India enters 60th independent year with more than 60% youth power, we all set for an exciting future ! The Indian geography has a long history besides transforming into scientific economy! Balance of payments look good as our ForEx reserves are over $150 bn ! That enables us to clear all our external debts in one go & still have balance left ! Though hypothetical, even this was considered insane in early 1990’s ! Indian economy has come along way , reflection of our fundamentally sound policies .
The right words of Charles dickens reflect our state of being today – “ We are in best of times and worst of times”. Worst - because of today’s terror, hindrances do crop up. We do realize our long journey, but with her characteristic diversified unity and charismatic appeal India will march ahead – confidently and youthfully!!

Lebanon Under Attack !
What one rightly calls as the change of winds applies well to lebanon. Hardly anyone in Beirut would have thought their city & eventually lebanon, under attack from Israeli Defence Froces(IDF) . The agreed view against IDF is their unmatched hard hit on the already wailing lebanon. It has hardly woken from their invasion decades ago.
Ofcourse rationalist argue Israel is not the one to go to war and was very nastily prompted by extremism. IDF has decided to finish hizbullah once and for all. But their greatest challange would be to fight the terror groups whose identity is very difficult to distinguish from an innocent civilian ! In one sense, the lebanese themselves are paying for their support to hizbullah.
Danger in this whole conflict is that, a breed of new generation would rise bearing their full brunt on those who attacked them thus putting the idea of sustained peace in the region atleast half a century away ! Terror is a phenomenon taking shape rapidly in new age and response to it should be to curb it at its root rather than letting an offshoot. Otherwise purpose would be lost !
Israel has all the right as any state to defend itself, but should be done with utmost caution with least possible impact. Ehud omlert inspite of his very less military service has come out as a hardliner than expected. His body language clearly states this man knows fully the impact of military action.
Peace in and around Israel is as important as Indo-pak , S & N korea. Asia also has recently seen constant conflicts threatening the future of millions ! Middle east & asian peace are good indicators of journey towards a better world ! Hope the journey begins late than never!

Master blaster is Back !
Billion hearts break new bounds of joy every time sachin goes on a rampage, though he has done it a through his million strokes before ! No cricketer is as famous our Sachin tendulkar ! A real cricketing genius certified by Don Bradman ! Spirits are definitely high for the men in blue on his arrival .

Tribute to kargil Martyrs !
The time of the year the climate was freezing cold where mercury would dare to raise, no life would want to catch a glimpse of it. But silently few rough men cross the LOC making one think god knows what drive them. Though realising late, India did not pardon them ! An accepeted fact that Army was taken by surprise, but not disheartened. As in Kargil Gen.V.P.Malik states "Kargil was from suprise to victory !". Ofcourse, yes ! It comes from a man who commanded Army during kargil times !
Capture of Tiger Hills, restoration of NH1 were all daring instances of "Profiles of courage" !
Numerous examples starting from Sqd.Leador Vijay Ahuja's mission to 18 grenadiars capturing tiger hills, braving infiltration defence at batallik will ever be imprinted in the minds all indians !
Kargil will remain as one of the best examples of the exemplery chavalry of our ever dedicated fellow soldiers ! Guarding our borders has not been an easy task, but they had outpaced the disasters whenever they cropped up !
A moving statement by a fine soldier : "Tell them for their tommorow we gave our today !"

Most citizens in this small carribean country only know towering Castro as their ultimate leader, for they have been seeing him from the time they were born ! May be this applies to atleast half the world population which survive now!
Fidel castro took over the power in cuba from Fulgencio Batista in 1958. One of doctors turned into greatest guerilla warfare man Che guevera accompanied castro in this mission. Unfortunately in a twist of fate the later headed for bolivia to make rest a history !
Ruling one of the very few communist states, castro has defined himself to be a fine,firm,intelligent and tactically strategic leader. What more he has survived more than 600 assasination attempts till now and has faced pressure from almost 10 US presidents ! Every cigar smoked by anyone around the world has his spirit in it !

Clueless in baghdad !
Sashi tharoor's Bookless in baghdad opened a new vista in me , of understanding the life of the iraqis ! Poor citizens selling their precious book collection for a living ! But recent happenings in baghdad really seem to be ruthless ! A few deaths daily for no fault of theirs, albiet they were born on that part of the planet. Now tharoor would dare say "Clueless in baghdad !
After "Ladies & gentlemen, We got him !" rhetoric, one is given a sense that still they have not got him(the real enemy i mean) . Iraq is on a grip of civil war, poor people, they are clueless ! For troops there getting on the street fights of iraq seems a new paradigm shift than their tora bora days ! Days ahead do not inspire them. But still they stick on to see light at the end of tunnel !
The point of reference here is that we are also affected by the oil spill. Economists raise alarm on the rocketing oil prices. High time India starts reducing its dependecy on oil if it has to go forward undeterred.

NR - Greatest Legacy of our times !
Anyone going past the bangalore highyway to Hosur cannot afford to ignore the gigantic pyramid edifice , which signals one that he is just few meters away from one of the most respected companies in the world ! The very word "Infosys" has become household name in IT business ! One can boldly claim they are one of the reasons for putting India into the global IT highway ! The infy "team" by itself is an exemplary legacy of our times. NR knew early enough that IT is going to the future & that he was going to take a chunk of it ! His characteristic modesty carries an air wherever he goes - business or personal !
I would fail to honor if i miss NR's journey in bringing the company from a small room to city of edifices ! From a shy boy who could not make to IIT but decided to stick on with his dream of pursuing engineering NR has travelled a very unconventional path throughout his career ! ofourse he found a perfect partner in Ms.Sudha ! For that matter the kin of all the founders have stood by their better half ! Guess they were one of the first to identify the potential of these young men who were after something which was "new" to us then ! Warren buffet would definitely regret missing this golden nest !
What make him special is his vision for the company and the zeal with asidous courage to pursue it. Not just that, he encourages leadership at all levels of business and society. NR might have failed to take off in International airport, but not his reputation. They sadly would miss his corporate skills with human touch ! Tipu's capital got a new life as the bell to NASDAQ rang from mysore, becoming the first asian country to kick off stock trading remotely.
Infosys is the pioneers of employee stock options in India. The management have always should their concern for the employee and thier aspirations met . Otherwise no can imagine how one team could have built such a business empire from single brick ! We might have ambani's, gates, larry page but infy's founder NR definitely commands a space among the corporate doyens. he is one of the rare business men I have seen having vision for another 100 yrs !
I think for NR it is not a company but his bloodline. Guess the infosy'ans wil carry his baton forward and make thier boss & country proud !
NR might be bidding adieu as executive to infy, but societal india welcomes him. In another few years, we can even address him as : " Welcome Mr.president ! " . Narayan murthy no doubt will continue to inspire thousands of your enterpruners who want to make it big !

G8 Summit & India
Prelude to St.petersburg for G8 summit had started with human misery of terror in Asia. From Mumbai being shattered to pounding of zionists at beirut. Signs were jittery none the less significant. India I shud say well used this moment to vioce its concern on terror and its equation with our neighbour. Though no solid official evidence published, trails may logically lead to the expected path in the events of the unexpected attacks. History repeats itself ! Diplomatic victory as stated by shyam saran as G8 jointly condemned the brutal train attacks.
On sidelines we did press our conerns on the nuke deal to uncle same, who assured "no shifting" of goal posts" !
G8 in lot of ways have become unofficially very important structure in todays world order. India's participation in it shud be mutlitude going forward, as membership already in cards one shud presume. Would give us better edge in terms of trade, economy & defence.
Though recent espionage internally be a cause of concern, one can expect our sleuths to maintan tight integrity to safe guard national security ! None the less our pursuit for searching partners to fight terror should continue through defence diplomacy for better access to classified data, which can to a large extent simplify our bureau deeds. ofcourse it would have to mutual consent.
PM mentioned, fighting terror might be a long haul, but we better be prepared for the long haul without making a dent in our hull !

Our Scientific Edge
Dual setback for Indian defence & space scientists ! One was supposed to have been a maiden flight and other was to follow a textbook lauch path ! But good news is our scientists are not morally down, they are ready to fight back which they have always accomplished.
ISRO unfortunately broke its series of 12 successful launches .. Record has been impeccable .. Out of 21 only 5 have failed so far .. Flambouyant chairman of ISRO means what he says .. Known for his tough stance & maganement skills no doubt our space program will reach new heights . Next year might be a dual success with "Kaveri" cryoengine also coming in.
Anyone who has been closely observing our progress would agree the resiliance of DRDO thro its IGMDP .. Complex engineering projects like missile tech has its inherent problems of accuracy and timing. Second stage ignition seems to be the initial problem failure analysis by them . More on this would take time. IGMDP, kalam's brain child has tread many a successful lauches doing him & our country proud. His usual advocacy being " Strengh respects strength" . They have come to stage of marketing their technology at global arena. Brahmos is an apt example(name after brahmaputra+moscow)
Key aspect to note is that ,with all these happenings in light of ongoing Indo-nuclear deal it is imperative that India asserts herself to secure readiness of key technologies of strategic importance, where "compromise" does not have place at all ! Mumbai Maniac
A chill ran through the spine of mumbai when it re-lived '93 blasts . One of the most serious acts of terror in recent time ableit J&K .. Srinagar had company to complain for these maniac deed ! Situation gives to more questions of our internal security aspects . Few blame our NSA for ignoring home security for xternal one. But mumbaikars shud be given credit for their immediate recovery from it and swiftness of action.
Civil society has always criticised the motives of inhuman terror acts to achieve some means. Infact the wings have spread far and wide from madrid to mumbai, russia to rawalpindi, new york to UK . Brings a totally different perspective internationally in combating terror . It seems to transcend class,creed and always rationality ???
In any case this totally inhuman outwardly coward act cannot justify death of innocent civilians ! Strongly to be condemned !
In the end is it all really worth it ? High time world, india in particular wakes up . Otherwise we will wake up one day to find barren world around us !

"Italics" of winning !
Hail cesar ! Rome would be lit with victory, a well deserved one .. By pure mechanics, their performance have been exponential in this world cup ! A few passings were genius .. Stats well show the romans possesed larger share of the pie(well pizzaa) most of time than their rivals ! French will have to wait till 2010 to take the revenge !
It's a pity that real madrid star had to be taught that it is the ball which had be headed & not the players .. The french captain could have taken a more deserved exit from professional football .. From now on 111 ( th minute) would continue to haunt the french ! But things apart zidane has given the fans some real good football over the years and was one of the main reasons for maintaining the football tradition of france .. Au reviour zizou !! His captainancy and seniority will be misssed by the team & fans world wide ...
Oliver Kahn too bid adieu .. A wonderful career from 1991 .. Has saved few precious goals at some critical moments though he had has his share of misses ! So long "kahn" !
And an intresting fact is that the rise in viewership of football back home ! Well, can it overtake our religious rigour called "cricket" ? Fans may field after football for sometime, but cricket is ultimately what they bat for :-) ! Hope a national football team of international calibre will not remain "An unfinished dream" !

Twin towers still stand tall
Who said twin towers are gone ... ? They are still standing high, in fact growing taller! The duo who make the top 2 richest men on earth, definitely are twin towers of philanthropy ! "Sage of omeha" surprised the world by donating $37 billion (out of his $44 billion) wealth .. A feat never accomplished by none but him so far (well i can dare say ,not atleast in our life time) . Though following the trails of charity set by Rock feller and Carnegie , buffet has once again displayed his keen business acumen by donating $31 billion to gates foundation and not starting his won foundation ! A research says 30% wealth of foundation
s are drained in administrative/operational work ! 
Bill & melinda gates were visibly humbled by warren's donation .. The $60 billion money is equivalent to handling 30 Infosys !! One thing, warren buffet very well grasps is that the chairman of microsoft will be "macro-hard" when it comes to optimising costs ! Experts feel a new trend might be set in the way NGO's operate, by entry of corporate doyens like Bill gates !
The news is as important to us in India, as gates has a good portion of his money invested in research for TB !
I cannot defend the martial skills of jackie .. so I better mention his deed too .. Mostly gone unnoticed is , his annoucement to donate half his wealth to his " Jackie chan" foundation" !
Back home , we have setup like premji foundation, Infy foundation doing great work ! What more, people like sunil mittal are soon to follow the footsteps . Hope this would create better oppurtunity for the needy ! Atleast good cost conciousness at NGO level .
By the way 4th design plan of twin towers is ready to be built by 2012, which would be 1776 ft high (guess why this number - well may be thats why it is called "freedom tower" :-) ) !
