Stunning Sania - On a sizzling play!!!

Indian teen tennis star Sania Mirza continues her victory roll in the US open series - latest East-West Bank classic. Sania took 1.38 Hr to route Martina Hingis out of the tournament. The latest victory seems to be a "Victory Serial" being directed by Sania starting almost from this year Start. A few worthwhile victories of Sania Mirza in 2007 :

• Win over eighth seeded Austrian Bammer in the semi-finals of the Bank of the West Classic tournament in Stanford.

One of her aim has been to break the top 20 this year. The only other Indian tennis player to on 23rd was Ramesh Krishnan, long ago ! I hope we can re-live the excitment again through Sania Mirza !!

Fedrer grabs the "Famous Five" !!

Fedrer very rarely came this close to loosing , that too in a much familiar terrain. If not for Nadal, he would have even played blind folded ! We would have had to wait another 5 yrs
to beat the record, if he had given up. The genius is Fedrer got better of him in the 5th set of the Wimbledon Final 2007 ! Finally the 26 Yr old broke the 27 Yr old Bjorn Borg record
for holding 5 successive Wimbledon titles.7/7/7 was a memorable day for Roger Fedrer ! As an ardent Enid Blyton fan I would name it "Final of Adventure" !!

Nadal was almost equally competent, giving his opponent a real tough time. Many predicted his win. In fact circumstantially wind was in his favor. Only then did Fedrer Express zoomed past the Spaniard. Memorable final looking spectacular at - 6 (7), 4-6, 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-2. Nadal seemed to have been a little forgiving. Well this young man has a
long way to go. But so does Fedrer.

The rivalry is slated to be one of the most electrifying after Sampras-Agassi ! Fedrer seems to be converging to be the "Best ever Tennis Player". Seeing this man come from ground zero to great heights in record time speaks for itself. We are no doubt in not just contemporary era but
Fedrer would entertain for years to come. Commentators could not help wondering what this magical wizard will create with his razor sharp, intelligent and powerful tennis.
French challenge continued the Swiss to sweat , but did not succeed in slowing him down. Once he captures that no doubt he is on the league of "extraordinary gentlemen ". Well looks like he might alone in that league for longggg time to come.

Will Fedrer fault this season ??

Very few tennis titans in history will be remembered for their aggressiveness, skill and tact of contemporary times. Even few out of those records would travel with time to threaten the contemporary players. Roger Fedrer might not let those spirits deter him . Every one of those records are being smashed by his magic , albeit the "French Open".

Wimbledon 2007 has begun. I am one of those million fans who would love to see him unravel more of his magic. One of the best known critics of The Hindu had mentioned that his failure in french open is the only proof of him being a human and not god ! Will he ever become god ?Will Fedrer ever fault ?? Anyway that question will have to wait for one more year.

Meanwhile one would want to see more of Fedrer on grass & marshy courts merciless to his opponents ! But he is on verge of being named the greatest ever tennis player ! Bjon Borg is waiting to watch this 25 yr old swiss walk away with another record at Wimbeldon. Not just him, but the whole tennis world !!

Bold & the Beautiful !

A beauty had dreamed of winning her third grand slam. But then came a yet bolder voice which shattered that dream. Throughout the play sharapova found that she just could not even get closer to that dream. Serena's play was just precise to the core. No one would believe she was playing international tennis after quite sometime.

The gap ,it seemed has actually made serena more powerful , skillful. The American just whipped the ball right and left, which the Russian found too handful ! Until the final countdown started, both were looking good. Infact World no:1 all the more upper hand seeing the track record of the past year. But Serena just re-wrote them. It's not that she had not warned her signals, most powerful one was beating the 17 yr old(youngest playing the grand slam) nichole vadisova ! The teenager was just sent back for lack of experience in front of Serena.

A confident Serena was on fire throughout the Final game of Australian Open 2007 ! Definitely was too good for a unseeded player. Simply the ranking were put to shame ! A crisp 6-1 6-2 said it all ! Timely strategy and quickness is name of the game and Serena just stood by it. Welcome back Serena , after all no one is too hard to beat is what you have proven ! Good start for 2007 !

Men in Blow !

Bernard Shaw would have loved his saying go true watching the Indians perform on field ! True every team has ups & down's, but recet trends is tilted towards worst ! Should we call is "Worst at its best ". Whole team dismally failed to perform including skipper dravid !

Are we cursed or Jinxed as ICC world cup nears ? Dadda could not have found a more better time for re-entry seeming as if he rejunvates the team ! I hope the bengal tiger would leap a few good shots rather than polishing his claws ! Seniors I m sure are more experienced to these time and will come back. Unfortunately I am also one in a billion who seem to believe that myth !

Our men are in a blow to their self thrown bomb shell !!

The richest sports body in the world is all smoking it out ! A mere 2% donation to other sports would have created hundreds of Sania'a & Rathore's !! Sometimes I wonder Indians mistook cricket as religion and not a sport ! Can't be blamed as we have channels which track every ball hit and words spoken with chronological accuracy ! Even if team does not make history atleast media do !

Boys in blue should take this as a wake up call and better start performing more in reality than in AD's ! Brand ambassador for a sportsman is his skill first and put the rest to rest ! India sits back sad waiting for team to perform as a team ! Some even thank god there wasn't any qualifying ! Worst is we still beleive our boys will deliver ! Well otherwise what ? When she walks through the stadium with sports gear on even that becomes fashion statement. Many predicted the demise of her fame in the game would soon loose glamour which surrunds it ! Maria Sharaphova gave them a strong ace winning her second grand slam unlike her compatriot fashion dressed Anna kournikova !
This teenage sensation has once again proven her tennis skills are much beyond anyone's comprehension. Mind you she fought down Justine, the finalists in all 4 grand slams this year. Sharaphova's reflexes were at her best on the centre court of Arthur Ashe stadium !

What else can I say ! ! You have garlanded to death the critics view on your game through your comeback. Oh maria !

Andre Aggasi - Serves final match

Arthur Ashe stadium gave this indefatigable star a standing ovation, making Andre break down ! 20 years , anyone would agree is pretty long stint in the world of tennis. Winning all 4 grand slams, which only four others have achieved so far, agassi set a precedent to classic tennis ! His friend and ground rival Sampras have given feast to fans world ove they would never forget !
What diffrentiated agassi was the style he adapted to himself and the great rebel midset at play ! Many a times he did not forgive his opponents, but very kind at heart. Ofcourse, Andre Aggasi runs a charitable for the downtrodden !
Last but one match between him and marcos is a master piece for future aspirants. Agassi's tennis profile had its own downs too. His fight back especially after his failed marriage with brook shields. Analysts had predicted his exit then, but this tough steel man served the volley with full power comeback. Infact in 1999 he became the 5th man in world tennis history to have won all the 4 grandslams, record even sampras does not hold !
Last few years of his career Steffi has helped agassi's come back helping him outset many records. This tennis duo probably now have a lot of time for themselves.

Mesmerising Murali !!!

Shane Warne these days is netting hard to avoid murali surpassing him - The only other man to trying to bowl this bowler !
As years spinned, this cricketing genius has proven himself to be one of the best bowlers cricket has ever known. Right from his debut in 1992 there was no looking back for muralitharan ! Armed with his ever smiling attitude he has made the batsmen cry for their mistakes.

Muthiah muralitharan, the highest wicket taker [ test+ODI], keeps all who are watching spellbound by his sleight of hand. Real doosra thrown to the other legends is the complexity of action which he performs with ease. Murali has created a new art of spinning ! Anyone from prasanna to bishan singh bedi would agree. Warne even states a step further, "muthiah might reach 1000 wkts !"
An accepted view that murali is a class in himself. Walking through the cricket hall of fame is not easy. With more than half century 5wicket spell & a dozen 10Wkt spell, murali is just mesmerising. Island nation has proudly produced a real genius who has made academics research his action with curiosity !
Murali has recently revealed his humane side by becoming "ambassador" for UN World food programme for poverty allevation ! This would go a long way in bringing up the poor of the small Island nation to whom murali is "GOD" !
Why is this lankan not being awarded a Mastero honor . All cricket fans would strongly urge muthiah muralidharan for his astute skills must be officially declared cricketing bowling genius of all times !

Master blaster is Back !

Billion hearts break new bounds of joy every time sachin goes on a rampage, though he has done it a through his million strokes before ! No cricketer is as famous our Sachin tendulkar ! A real cricketing genius certified by Don Bradman ! Spirits are definitely high for the men in blue on his arrival .
Performance of any genius is his return to form at anytime, anywhere. None other than sachin has proven this ! Will prove it in the island nations too, no doubt !

I hope even the tigers take their time off to watch this cricketing lion in action ! His few brilliant shots are sure a bonus for lankans who are ear deaf with gun shots !

"Italics" of winning !

Hail cesar ! Rome would be lit with victory, a well deserved one .. By pure mechanics, their performance have been exponential in this world cup ! A few passings were genius .. Stats well show the romans possesed larger share of the pie(well pizzaa) most of time than their rivals ! French will have to wait till 2010 to take the revenge !
It's a pity that real madrid star had to be taught that it is the ball which had be headed & not the players .. The french captain could have taken a more deserved exit from professional football .. From now on 111 ( th minute) would continue to haunt the french ! But things apart zidane has given the fans some real good football over the years and was one of the main reasons for maintaining the football tradition of france .. Au reviour zizou !! His captainancy and seniority will be misssed by the team & fans world wide ...
Oliver Kahn too bid adieu .. A wonderful career from 1991 .. Has saved few precious goals at some critical moments though he had has his share of misses ! So long "kahn" !
And an intresting fact is that the rise in viewership of football back home ! Well, can it overtake our religious rigour called "cricket" ? Fans may field after football for sometime, but cricket is ultimately what they bat for :-) ! Hope a national football team of international calibre will not remain "An unfinished dream" !

I will have to start somewhere .. so i am drawing the inspiration from around !
Football fever all around .. a few great matches ofcourse .. few pathetic ones though (no names here .. implicit) ! personally am not a grt football fan .. but since that is not a fashion today , i better take that back .. One thing i observed is refree's have been running & sweating more than the players :-) !! Lets wait for the all european final .. our super senior zidane deserves a place in next world cup too .. he already has lost more hair .. nothing more to loose .. ok i will wait for the finals to decide ! Discovery broke the escape velocity (safely ofcourse without breaking) ... GSLV to break it soon .. guess man has come a long way in exploring the space .. definitely no comparisons here ..
